10 years ago Gary and I bought this house . It had or has a nice size garage. Along the years we have added a couple of storage sheds. Today Gary tells a fellow junker : " I used to have a garage and a storage building but now Irene has it full of junk " . I admit I am a " junker " . I love other peoples junk or treasures.
There is nothing like running across a garage sale or yard sale and you see something that was once on your grandmothers dresser or maybe a toy you used to have. Dishes suck the life out of me. Something about it brings out the "grab it before someone else does" syndrome in me . Once I have it in hand and in the vehicle I feel a real sense of accomplishment also . YES... I got it and it was only $2.
What is it--- for my love of older used things? I love my modern day pieces of equipment but when it comes to furniture , pictures , dishes, even clothes....it brings out euphoria in me.
I simply get a " high" from walking into a Goodwill , Salvation Army and Thrifstores. Those old neglected plates that once served someone a hot meal or those glasses that someone drank kool-aid from . ( not the Obama kind --but the kind with the frosty pitcher and the smile ). How about the old chair that someone rocked their baby in ? The white enamel ware that once held someones supper. My mind goes into overdrive on what I am going to do with the junk once I get it home .
The sad thing is I will get rid of a bunch of my junk on my online swap meet ( that's another blog) ...and turn around the same day and buy some more. Something tells me there is no "help" for folks like me and that's ok . I like me !! Gotta go ... there is some junk somewhere that needs to bought ...Gary would say " no , there is some junk somewhere -like my garage and storage shed - that needs to be thrown away!!!
Welcome to my blog. I'm a mom, wife , daughter , sister and friend. I'm a woman who finds herself saying "what now " being 53 with an empty nest. Let's see ,what now!

Hello again ! Looks like I took a little time off from " thinking " . You don't know how many times I came back to this page typed some and then deleted the draft . So I figure its been over a year and I am adamant about getting on here and " thinking " ....another phrase for " giving my opinion " . Haha! Please free to comment even if your opinion is different than mine . I won't promise to debate you because I just figure there is not any use in making enemies when we have so many things we think alike on.
Now on to my report on my Pinterest ventures: THE HOMEMADE DETERGENT . Let me tell you if I can make this anyone can. It did not require alot of effort... know what I mean . Basically I boiled the water ...ok I'm lying ,,,I put it in the microwave till it bubbled. Poured that hot water into the gallon jug or empty detergent bottle. Added some cold water till the bubbles ran over . DONE! I used a whole bottle of the stuff and I never felt that our clothes were not clean. The only thing I missed was the fresh scent from my tide. So I made another batch this weekend. Hence...this got me "thinking" !! I had a bottle of Febreeze ...a gift from my mom ...hmm...hint maybe? Anyway , I poured some of that in the mixture and it seemed to help when it comes to the scent of the soap. Someone else suggested using those Downy beads to add alittle scent . Next time I'll try that.
The cost of this detergent per gallon is like .25 gallon. Probably under that!!!
I don't know about you but I see alot of " zapatos" for that kind of savings!! My friends ( I won't mention any names .. .to protect the innocent that are not in need of any shoes , obviously!!) said they would just go buy Tide. Here's a pic of the ingredients. Till next time ! Wonder what my next topic will be!
